Corvinus University - Sportcenter

The site is the southern plot of a "double" bomb-site on Lónyai Street. The community function would require space, but this cannot be ensured by the relatively narrow street in Ferencváros. The position of the neighboring plot overlooking Zsil Street is more favorable, but there is already a 24 meter high residential house opposite our plot. Stepping back from the street line would make the feasibility of the program impossible, so the “expansion” was created inside the building, with a spacious, full-height atrium lobby that can be seen from the street as well. The façade makes only a gesture-worthy “stepping back” movement, but its transparency also gives the experience of space from the street.
